Choosing the Best Coin Pearl Necklace
By Michelle Yamamoto

No other other piece of jewelry can match the sense of elegance, sophistication, and class than that of a pearl necklace. In fact, one of most popular types of pearl necklaces available today is that of a coin pearl necklace. These disc-shaped pearls offer a fresh new look on just about everyone's neckline. The challenge is to choose the right necklace.

Choosing a Coin Pearl Necklace Based on the Outfit

The overall length of the coin pearl necklace will depend on the outfit that you want to wear. Generally, the lower the neckline, the longer the necklace should be. For example, if you have a relatively high neckline, such as a turtleneck, or a scooped neckline, a coin pearl necklace of about 18 to 22 inches would be ideal. For the most part, the focal point of the necklace should be just below your throat line. However, if you have a plunging neckline, a longer coin pearl necklace will better compliment the outfit.

Another quality of your outfit to consider when choosing a coin pearl necklace is the color and/or pattern. If the colors in your outfit are bold and bright, a smaller, more subdued necklace would be simply swallowed up. A smaller necklace works best with an outfit with muted colors or subdued lines.

Choosing the Necklace Based on Your Body Type

A coin pearl necklace should compliment you in addition to the outfit that you are wearing. If your neck is long and slender, a shorter coin necklace is best gives the illusion of a shorter distance between your neckline and head. If your neck is more rounded than long, a coin pearl necklace that is slightly longer will add the illusion of length to your neck.

Of course, the best idea when choosing a coin pearl necklace is to go out shopping for one. Be sure to bring a few of your friends with you, visit some reputable jewelry stores, and try some pieces on. In addition, talk to the jewelry store attendant, since they should be most familiarwith these pieces of jewelry. They will be able to help you decide which is right for you.
